Norway – the Land of the Midnight Sun

Norway is best seen on a motorcycle to really appreciate its breathtaking landscapes, from the open road.

Riding along the famed fjords allows you to experience the dramatic cliffs and pristine waters up close, providing a sense of freedom that captures the essence of adventure. The winding roads, such as the Atlantic Road and the Trollstigen, are a motorcycle rider’s dream, offering thrilling twists and turns amidst stunning scenery.

Additionally, the ease of accessing remote villages and hidden gems makes exploring by motorcycle an exhilarating way to connect with the culture and natural beauty of Norway. The fresh, crisp air and the panoramic views create an unforgettable thrill that no car can replicate.

The departure date will be Sunday 29th June – I’ll be heading to Harwich straight from the ABR festival!

Overnight ferry to Hook of Holland, a day’s ride to Hamburg and again another long day to Hirtshalls where we board the ferry to Norway.

We’ll arrive in Kristiansand in the morning on Wednesday 2nd July and enjoy 9 days of riding the beautiful Norwegian roads and take in its stunning scenery.

There will be one rest day at the Geirangerfjord which is often considered the jewel in Norway’s crown of fjords. Surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, 800-meter-high cliffs and cascading waterfalls, the UNESCO-listed fjord is an impressive 15 kilometers long and 260 metres deep.

The famous Trollstiegen Pass is one of the most iconic scenic routes in Norway, however, it is currently closed (2024) due to a high risk of rockfall. The viewing platform is still open and I will keep an eye on the developments there before we start our journey.

We start the return journey on Thursday 10th July on an overnight ferry to Hirtshalls (Denmark) and reverse journey to Harwich, arriving in the UK on Sunday 13th July in the morning.
